GRACE TO MOTHERS

  • Matthew 15 has 3-part stories:
    1. When Jesus answered the accusation of the Pharisees. Jesus called them Hypocrites.
    2. Jesus’ encounter with a mother who has a request for her demon-possessed daughter. This is what we will focus on.
    3. Jesus ministering to the multitude healing and giving food provision.
  • Matthew 15:21-28
    • This woman, though she’s a pagan/Gentile, she called Jesus, “Lord.”
    • If someone is called Son of David, you believe that person is the Messiah.
    • Verse 23 But He answered her not a word – Bakit Lord walang sagot?
    • Verse 24 I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel – Jesus dealt with the Israelites first.
    • Verse 25 she came and worshiped Him – Jesus did not stop her from worshipping Him. Revelation: Jesus is God. Because worship is only for God. Jesus did not stop her because He is God.
    • Verse 26 children’s bread – it’s not yet time for Jesus to deal with the Gentiles.
  • Ephesians 2:12-13
    • Before the cross – We were without Christ, we were aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, we were strangers from the covenants of promise, we have no hope, we are without God.
    • After the cross – But now, in Christ we have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
  • At that time, the woman has no part yet in the covenant of God because Jesus has not yet died on the cross.
  • Dogs = Gentiles.
  • But because of her faith, Jesus gave her grace.
  • When the Lord does not answer right away, it doesn’t mean there is no answer. It doesn’t also mean No! It is because there is perfect timing for everything. May perfect timing ang Diyos.
  • When you don’t receive it right away, wait for the perfect timing of the Lord.
  • 1 John 5:14-15
    • Ask away!
    • You have not because you ask not.
    • Declare: “I have it!”
    • God wants us to depend on Him, to trust in Him. It’s good to depend on God. This life does not matter if you do not have God.
  • The delay of the answer at this point was maybe symbolic. Israelites first because God is a God of order. It’s not yet time for the Gentiles. But after Jesus was crucified, then He was for all. He makes all who believe in Him one (Jews and Gentiles, kasama ‘yan sa plan of Salvation).
It is all inclusive.
  • The woman received what she prayed for because she had faith.

FCI Faith Group Program May 12, 2024

  • Grace is received by faith in Christ Jesus.
  • Pag may pananampalataya, natatanggap ang biyaya.
  • Kahit wala pa syang covenant, she acted in faith. Tayo pa kaya? This is our time, our place. We are called for such a time as this. Sukdulang Biyaya ang para sa atin. Kaya hiling na! Sugod mga kapatid! It is the pleasure of God to give us the kingdom. Declare it! That is faith!
  • There is no other way to receive grace. It is only by faith. Not by works, not by breeding or nationality but by faith alone.
  • This mother believed in Jesus as Lord, Messiah, that He is merciful, and He can do miracles. She heard many things about Him.
  • How about us? We have also heard so much about Jesus Christ. It is not sky is the limit, but Jesus is our limit!
  • This mother was very bold. Nangahas siya, nangulit pa.
  • Find Grace by coming boldly to the throne of Grace.
    • It is a throne of grace not a throne of judgment.
    • From the throne of grace, we receive grace upon grace.
    • Hebrews 4:14-16 – It is knowing who Jesus is – our great High Priest, the Son of God, He can sympathize with our weaknesses.
    • Anong confession or declaration mo? Panghawakan mo. He is in sympathy with our weaknesses. So do not be timid! Come boldly! You are not a beggar. You are a child of God!
    • Find grace – nawala ba? Grace is always there for us to receive.
    • Itapon na natin ang kahihiyan, God paid for our shame. Nilinis ka na ng dugo ni Kristo.
    • We should be violent to take with our faith. Ex. Kagalingan, akin ‘to!
    • Grace wants us bold. Hindi nahihiya! Ang mahiyain, talo.
    • Go for it! Sugod sa lahat ng biyaya ni Lord!
    • Come before Him with boldness because God is good. Take violently what is yours because God is good. Persist because God is good.
    • Do not be shy, come boldly to the throne of grace.
  • Galatians 5:13
    • Come boldy. Enjoy your freedom. Use your freedom through love, serve one another, not to do evil or lustful things.
    • As a child of God, wala ng hiya hiya. Instead boldness.
    • Declare: “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.”
    • Bold = fearless kay Lord.
    • God is not against you, He is for you.
    • There is great profit when we walk in our liberty, there’s so much boldness. Wala ng takot. Perfect love casts out fear.
    • Jesus calls every believer to come boldly to the throne of grace.
    • Hindi naman po makapal ang mukha. Iba po ‘yun. Only boldness in Christ Jesus.
  • Grace calls for Persistence knowing that God is good.
    • Jesus wants us to be persistent. Okay lang ang makulit. (Luke 18:1-8)
    • Manalangin ka at wag kang susuko. Mahaba ang pasensya ng Panginoon sa atin. Hindi Siya nagsasawa sa ‘yo.
    • Jesus is looking for a faith that persistently prays to Him, trusting Him and not giving up!
    • Makulit dahil nagtitiwala tayo.
    • Ask. Pag wala pa, thank God that He is preparing you for the answer. Because He does not add sorrow to His blessing.
    • God is faithful. Humiling ka lang, be patient because God has a perfect timing for everything.
    • Persist in your request. Hanggang kailan? Hanggang dumating ang kasagutan.
  • God gives Grace to the Humble.
    • This woman was called a dog or a little puppy because Jews called Gentiles that label. And she did not get angry. She agreed, she humbled herself.
    • The grace of God is attracted to humility. (James 4:6)
    • What a blessing we are to be this kind of mother – persistent, bold with her request and yet humble.
    • Don’t come to the Lord with pride or your list of works. Approach God in humility not in what you have done. Approach Him because Jesus made a way for you by His blood.
    • This mother is the picture of how we, believers, receive the grace of God:
        1. By Faith
        1. Come boldly
        1. Persistence
        1. Humility
    • Anyone could be this mother – have faith in Jesus, be bold, persistent, and humble. This is our time to receive from the Exababall Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ!
