Faith Group Program – From Toiling to Overflowing (by Pastor Jun Yu – 2nd Service) – December 8, 2024
FROM TOILING TO OVERFLOWING (BY PTR. JUN YU – 2ND SERVICE)
▪ Peter, James, and John experienced toiling on their first encounter with Jesus, they did not catch any
fish. They were partners in the fishing business before they became partners in the ministry.
▪ Text: Luke 5:1-11
▪ Verse 5 – They have toiled all night.
▪ Their lives changed in that particular day they met Jesus:
1. They heard the word.
2. They believed the word.
3. They had the presence of the Word.
4. The presence of the Word caused them to prosper.
5. They became partners with the Word.
▪ Peter did not just hear but saw something. Nakita ni Peter ang biyaya ng Diyos. He saw the goodness
of God that led to repentance.
▪ Kasama nila si Jesus dahil si Peter ay lumuhod sa paanan ni Hesukristo.
▪ It was the presence of the Lord with them in the boat that caused them to prosper that day.
▪ It is the presence of God in your life that will cause you to prosper in everything that you do.
▪ Old Covenant mindset – Kaya napagpala si Pedro dahil pinahiram nya ang kanyang bangka.
New Covenant mindset – Ang presensya ni Hesukristo ang nagpala sa kanila.
▪ Ex. Joseph – He ended as a slave in Egypt, yet the Bible described him a prosperous person simply
because God was with him.
▪ Ang true prosperity ay dahil sa presensya ng Diyos sa iyong buhay.
▪ Declare: “I am a prosperous person because I have the presence of God in my life.”
▪ You will not remain where you are in life right now. The Lord will promote you.
▪ Follow (Greek: akoloutheo) = to be in the same way with
1. A (alpha) = a particular union
2. Keleuthos = a road
3. Follow = in union with the Way Himself. The Way = Jesus.
▪ “I have decided to follow Jesus.” = “I have decided to be in union with Jesus Christ.”
▪ If you are a believer under the New Covenant, you did not only get born again, you were also brought
in union with Jesus Christ Himself. You are in Christ and Christ is in you. Christ in you is the hope of
glory!
▪ With our union in Christ, there is no more toiling.
▪ The Blessing of the Lord will attract all the other blessings around you.
▪ The Blessing of the Lord makes you rich and He adds no sorrow, no toiling with it.
▪ With the presence of God in your life, you can say, “no more toiling for me!”
▪ Toiling started from the fall of man. (Genesis 3:16-19) Toiling was a result of the fall of Adam.
▪ Thank God we have been redeemed from the curse of the law. (Galatians 3:13-14)
▪ The promise of the Spirit is the Holy Spirit. When you believed Jesus, you received the Holy Spirit.
▪ The Holy Spirit = the Blessing.
▪ If you have the Holy Spirit in you, you already have the Blessing in you. And the Blessing in you makes
you rich and God adds no sorrow with the Blessing.
▪ John 1:1-3 – Word (logos) = Jesus.
▪ John 1:14-17 – the Word was made flesh.
▪ John recognized the presence of the Word.
▪ Dwelt = tabernacled among us.
▪ We beheld His glory as the only Begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. He saw the grace of the
Lord Jesus Christ and he heard the word of truth.
▪ Hearing without seeing is not enough. Every time we hear the gospel, we have to see who Christ is and
what He has done. The picture of Jesus that you see will make a difference in your life.
▪ Do you see Him as your Savior, Healer, Provider, good Blesser? What do you see?
The picture you see of Jesus every time you hear the Word will make the difference in your life.
▪ Verse 16 – As you behold Jesus as full of grace and truth, that you will receive from Him.
▪ Verse 17 – Grace and truth is Jesus personified.
▪ Every time you hear the Word/the gospel, and every time you see/behold Jesus for who He is and
what He has done, you will always receive.
▪ See Him as your Healer, Provider, Blesser,
and what He has done at the cross, and
you will always receive your blessing!
▪ Greek anti = in place of:
Grace in place of grace.
One gracious blessing after another. (NLT)
▪ Hindi natin kayang ubusin ang biyaya ng
ating Panginoon, we cannot exhaust His
grace. His grace is always overflowing!
▪ John 1:10-12 – They did not only believe,
but they also received Him into their boat.
▪ The day you believed Jesus is the day you
received Him in your life. You cannot
believe without receiving. You will receive
when you believe.
It is the presence of God in your life that will cause you
to prosper in everything that you do.
Declare: “I am a prosperous person
because I have the presence of God in my life.”
To follow Jesus is to be in union with Him.
With our union with Him, there is no more toiling!
The Blessing of the Lord
attracts all the other blessings around us.
The Blessing of the Lord makes us rich
and He adds no sorrow or toiling with it.
With the presence of God in your life,
you can say, “no more toiling for me!
From His abundance, I have received once gracious
blessing after another!”
He gave us overflowing grace!
▪ Luke 4:18-22 – Jesus began His ministry by reading the Scripture. (Messianic scripture, He sat on the
seat reserved for the Messiah, proclaiming Himself as the One.)
▪ The Jews recognized the gracious words but did not recognize Jesus. (Is this not Joseph’s son?)
▪ Luke 4:28-29 – They even tried to kill Jesus that day.
▪ Peter, James, and John followed Jesus. But not the Jews who heard Jesus read the Scriptures.
They saw different pictures of Jesus.
▪ Do you see Jesus as your Healer? Then you can see yourself as the healed of the Lord.
Do you see Jesus as your Blesser? Then you can see yourself as blessed.
Do you see Jesus as your Redeemer? Then you can see yourself as the redeemed.
Do you see Jesus as your Savior? Then you can see yourself as saved.
▪ We need to behold His glory as the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.
▪ Declare: “From His abundance, I have received once gracious blessing after another.”
▪ 2 Corinthians 9:14-15 NLT – The day you believed, you received not only the gift of righteousness but
God’s abundance of grace, overflowing grace!
▪ Grace is sufficient already, but He gave us overflowing grace.
▪ Para saan ang overflow? Para sa mga tao na kinakailangan nating pagpalain.
▪ Pag nagbigay tayo, hindi natin mauubos ang biyaya ng Panginoon. Mananatili yang overflowing.
